Healthy Sports Parenting

Youth sports trains everyone except parents

You spend countless hours taking your child to practices, games, tournaments, and lessons. Yet despite how important your role is in their sports experience, nobody ever teaches you how to be a sports parent.

The reality is you help shape the culture surrounding your child's experience, how much they enjoy it, and what they get out of it.

The good news is your kid doesn't need you to be a perfect parent. They just need you to support them and create a healthy environment around sports.

Healthy Sports Parenting was created to help you do that.

Meet Your New Coach

Hi. I'm Jonathan.

I'm a dad, youth coach, podcast host, and the creator of Healthy Sports Parents, a platform helping families use sports to raise great humans.

Over the last several years, I've had conversations with Olympians, Hall of Famers, professional athletes, sports psychologists, college coaches, and parents from all over the country about what actually helps kids thrive in sports long-term.

What I've learned is that most parents want to do right by their kids. They want to support them, encourage them, and help them grow through sports. They've just never been taught how.

That's where I come in.

Healthy Sports Parenting is designed to help you navigate the pressure, emotions, and challenges that come with youth sports so you can focus less on outcomes and more on helping your child enjoy the journey, grow through the experience, and become a great human along the way.

I look forward to coaching you this season.

PS – If you want my credentials:

  • Bachelor's in Sport Management
  • Minor in Coaching
  • Master's Degree in Student Ministry
  • 3.5 years at a Division I school
  • Multiple years in all different levels of youth sports

The course is designed for parents of youth athletes of all ages. Whether your child is playing their first season of rec sports or competing at a high level, the principles remain remarkably consistent.

Stacey Nuveman-Deniz

"I've been around sports at every level as a player, coach, and now a mom.

Jonathan's approach to youth sports reflects the same principles I've seen lead to long-term success in Olympians, college athletes, and kids who simply grow up loving sports. He understands that sports are most powerful when they help kids build resilience, confidence, and a genuine love of the game.

I strongly recommend his work to any parent raising a child in sports."

Dr. Jeremy Alland

"Healthy Sports Parents is an invaluable resource in today’s youth sports climate. Jonathan’s insights have helped me as a dad, a doctor and as a coach. I would recommend his course to every parent and coach of a youth athlete without hesitation."

Dr. Jenna Wallace

"As a child psychologist, former Division 1 athlete, and mom of three young athletes, I have reflected a lot on the changes in the youth sports industry. At the ballpark and on the courts, I see kids who want to be kids AND competitors. Sometimes parenting young athletes is a battle, especially in an ever changing landscape.

Jonathan’s work in this area is invaluable. I recommend his podcast and work to the families I work with in clinical practice and the parents of kids I coach. It will change the way you think about parenting, sports, and personal development."

Leslie Osborne

"The best sports memories happen when we keep it about the kids, not just the scoreboard. The Healthy Sports Parenting course is here to help you champion your child—building their confidence, resilience, and a lifelong passion for the game.”

Dan Meske

“As a coach, I know how much parents influence an athlete’s experience. Healthy Sports Parents is a great tool to assist parents in supporting their athletes and creating a positive youth sports experience.”

Jen Paulett

"This course is a game-changer for parents. It provides practical tools and powerful insights to help parents understand how to support their children in a way that builds confidence, protects their love of the game and strengthens their relationship. The lessons are thoughtful, relatable and incredibly actionable.”
